Between abstraction and figuration. Painting by Juliusz Narzynski
Juliusz Narzynski belongs to the first post-war generation of Polish artists. In 1959 he graduated with honors from the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts in Artur Nacht-Samborski's studio. He co-founded the established in 1963.
Rekonesans Group, with which he debuted a year later. It included artists of his generation, aware that in uncertain times, just after the end of the doctrine of socialist realism in the visual arts, it was necessary to stick together in order to exist on the art scene while maintaining and respecting their own creative independence. This idea united them. Narzynski was faithful to the principals of freedom in art throughout his life. He did not strive for popularity. When curating at the Gallery of Contemporary Art in Warsaw, he cared about the exhibition success of his colleagues, just as he cared about his students when he headed the painting studio at the Academy of Fine Arts in Lodz. He created with passion for art itself, and his rich legacy deserves to be remembered and taken care of. Communing with it is an inexhaustible source of aesthetic and intellectual experiences.
