    Adrianna Wiktoria Kowalik

    Adrianna Wiktoria Kowalik

    DIGITAL COLLECTIONS SPECIALIST
Adrianna Wiktoria Kowalik, chief curator and coordinator of Secondary Archive at the Katarzyna Kozyra Foundation. Her research focuses on engaged art in Central and Eastern Europe, particularly in Poland, Belarus, and Ukraine, as well as on the relationships between art, politics, and the archive. She completed her MA in contemporary art at Ca’ Foscari University in Venice and continues her research and curatorial work within Secondary Archive. She presented at the international conference Resilience Through Culture in Brussels, where she introduced the research-archival project Secondary Archive: Women Artists in War, documenting the work of Ukrainian women artists creating directly from the war front.

Secondary Archive (secondaryarchive.org) is an online archive and research program dedicated to the history of Central and Eastern European art from the perspective of women. It provides free access to more than 250 profiles of artists from Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Hungary, including texts created collaboratively by artists and curators, biographies, and descriptions of artistic practice.

The aim of the project is to rediscover, document, and promote women artists often overlooked in mainstream art history, and to build a shared cultural heritage of the region after 1989. The archive is open and continuously developing, serving as a space for reflection, research, and international collaboration.
